This news headline caught my eye:
“Christian beheads jihadist in revenge killing” (http://www.examiner.com/article/christian-beheads-jihadist-revenge-killing). This article can be found on almost every news outlet available.
I had to stop and think about this for a moment. Undoubtedly plenty of Christians have been beheaded by ISIS, so for some, for the tables to have turned is quite the victory. Am I wrong in thinking that this was not the correct thing to do if we live by what God taught us in the Holy Bible?
I would love to hear from others on this one. As Christians we are compelled to show love even for those who use and abuse us. Do you all think this was the correct thing to do? Did this help or hurt the overall cause? Should the Christian warrior have tried to take the opportunity to witness to this person? What do you all think? There are verses in the Bible that people may use… “an eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth” from the book of Exodus comes to mind… but there is also the verse where God tells us “vengeance is mine”…(Romans 12:19)
